If sho tung kwa is the quintesential form of the Villari system, and it in part represents ‘hands and feet in harmony’, does this change how we look at our kempo? How much do we take out the legs in the combinations and how much should we? Minor adjustments can change many things. Is there a buckle in three combo…more importantly, how much bodily self awareness is needed to make ‘hands and feet in harmony’ a fighting reality? Is there an internal to SK or not? These ideas all link in my mind…
I must be doing something right.
Here’s some ‘feedback’ I got. I must be doing something right.
Who cares? Here you are living all caught up and focused on somebody that died way way back in 1981. Get a life, more important live your life. Mitose is dead and gone & since, chances are you never had the courage to confront the man when he was living you come off as a real yuppie ripping him a new ass now that he’s dead. Move on!
He’s right, while I was in junior high school, and unaware of Mitose’s existence, I lacked the courage to confront someone that I had never heard of.
The shame…
A new voice at Kempoinfo
I recently asked my friend Marlon Wilson to contribute to Kempoinfo as he has been contributing to the kempo community for quite a while, and that I thought what he was saying was important. He’s been kind enough to start a page here sharing his perspective on kempo.
Besides being a frequent contributor to the blog (videos, ideas, etc.) he was my partner on my shodan test. I feel as if he and I paralleled a lot of experiences since then seeking out additional knowledge to make sense of our Shaolin Kempo background. I think that his path took him different places making his voice an important complement to the blog. Please make him feel welcome.
We’re still nailing down the best way to present his page, but that hasn’t stopped us from getting it rolling. Please check in and comment.
