We have two versions, reminiscent of combination 18 and of some of the 40s. There’s a simple version and a more elaborate one, and my feeling is that the best version would be somewhere in between. Conceptually, I like the takedown, but the spin move seems risky given that you’ve only hit the attacker once (in the simple version).

It’s interesting to see that these techniques were intended to be more straight to the point than how I learned them. The offshoot I used to go to would always replace basic punches with “cranes beaks” and that weird “phoenix fist” strike with the middle finger.
Since many of these were sent in by folks who left the Villari’s system, I can’t rule out the possibility that they have been streamlined to remove some of the more esoteric strikes.
