Replacing the Snake Form with the Snake Form?

There have been a lot of folks coming from a kung fu forum where they are discussing the USSD version of the snake form. They linked to the page here with the old Villari snake form and passing very harsh (and perhaps deserved) judgement on it. However, with their more recent ‘Shaolin Temple’ push, USSD seems to have replaced it with a more authentic form. It looks like this:

Two more versions after the jump. I’m going to add one to the ‘Snake Page’ for compare and contrast purposes. Feel free to suggest which one.

Leopard Technique

I really like this leopard technique because it has an interesting variation on an armbar that leads to a takedown. Note the initial parry to a leopard paw to the armpit aiming to hit the sensitive nerves under the armpit. This also tends to change the attacker’s weight distribution. Also note at the end using the right leg to prevent the downed opponent from simply ‘upkicking’ you as you come in for the finish strike.

That would never work…

It’s common knowledge that ‘fancy’ arts like Capoeira would never work in the ring. Too bad nobody told this guy.

I know, one knockout doesn’t mean much, other than never underestimate your opponent. I think the fact that this worked is a tribute to the winner’s athleticism. I’m not holding my breath to see this at the elite level. I guess there’s a time and place for everything.
