The past year at Kempoinfo.com

Thank you for being a loyal reader (if you are) and if you are new, thanks for stopping by. The past year has been a good one for kempoinfo.com, reaching over 54,000 page views (up over 13%), almost 20,000 visits(up almost 10% from last year), and just shy of 10,000 unique visitors ( also up about 10% from last year).

We’ve added two additional voices to the site, and now host 128 pages of information, 291 blog posts, and 553 discussion comments, most of which cluster around any time Marlon posts one of his observations. We have almost all of the combinations, and the most complete archive of Shaolin Kempo on the web by a long stretch.

That’s not counting the (and I’m not making this up) 8,322 comments that were caught by the spam filter. I’ve only found one ‘false catch’ so far, so if you had a comment that didn’t get through, my apologies.

What’s up for the new year?

A cleaner site: Fewer advertisements. They don’t offset the costs very well, and clutter the page. I’m tired of them. Adios webring, you started hijacking my visitors.

Kempos and lots of them. I was sent a list by Bob Fritz of Dragon-Phoenix kempo, and will be putting them up in groups, probably in a special ‘Bob’ section due to the huge quantity.

More multimedia, new features (as I try to get them set up) and a few surprises.

If there’s something you want to see, of course please use the comment feature as your suggestion box.

Thanks for all the support. This little ‘hobby site’ has really taken on a life of its own.

It’s official, the Iceman has retired

Chuck Liddell, retired UFC former champ, and Kempo legend.
In a not so surprising press conference, Chuck Liddell has announced his retirement. We haven’t heard much from this Kempo legend (out of the Godin-Hackleman lineage) in a while, so I wasn’t too shocked, but I am a little surprised and pleased to find out that he is a new VP for business development for the UFC. Congrats, thanks (for giving kempo some good press) and good luck.

New Favorite Podcasts

I’ve long been a fan of the 24fightingchickens site, but today I started listening to the podcasts of Iain Abernethy. He practices ‘Applied Karate’, and is concerned with the practical application of Karate. It’s not a kempo site, but he seems very sensible and the podcasts I’ve listened to so far (on pressure points and being a black belt) resonate pretty strongly with me. I have added the 24fighting chickens podcasts to my repertoire recently instead of just reading his site, and they are a must listen for anyone who runs a school.
