Classic Nick Cerio Footage

Here’s some old footage (circa 1990) with him explaining his perspective on some history and some of his thought on how his schools should be run. Of course, there’s some nice demonstration footage too. We often hold up the ‘old masters’ in some sort of unrealistic light. It’s nice to have footage of such a seminal figure in our lineage to get a real view on the man in action and in his own words.

If you have any doubts as to where his reputation as a serious practitioner came from, check out this footage from his early days. I found this video a while ago, but the version I had had no sound. This is pretty cool. (after the jump)

Animal Techniques from Jesse Dwire

Jesse\'s video coverJesse Dwire of Dragon Phoenix Martial Arts has produced a video of 25 animal techniques that he requires for students at his school. He had a pro come in to shoot it, so production quality should be good. I’ll post a review as soon as I get a copy.

I’ll try to get a preview to post a ‘teaser trailer’ if I can. The animal techniques are a interesting subset of kempos, and it’s nice to have a reference set when you are teaching. This collection of five would be a nice collection to get a feel for each of the animals’ particular movement styles.

First it’s candy canes, now it’s pizza!

PizzaApparently a pizza delivery person foiled a robbery using a large pizza. One shot was fired, but the delivery person escaped uninjured.

The pizza was used as a projectile from close range to serve as a distractor while the delivery person ran. Sometimes it’s about quick reaction more that superior firepower.

Coming soon candy cane vs. pizza deathmatch?
