To help coordinate chats, there’s a new box in the left sidebar to show who is currently chatting. If you see a name there, join on in.
Again, I think our best luck will be to schedule chats, so either use the comments to organize them, or watch here for posts. Maybe we’ll pick a topic at regular intervals (maybe a couple times a month) and chat about it.
I thought it would be a long and complicated process to get a chat room up and running at Kempoinfo.com. Turns out, it took about an hour. If I hadn’t worried about integrating it smoothly into the site, probably ten minutes. Who knew? Well, as you can see, it’s not the most elegant implementation, but it’s here. I’ve created a chat room, and we can use the new forum to schedule chats to discuss our favorite techniques, or anything else for that matter in real time. Again, I’m adding this in response to my (handful of) loyal readers. See what happens when you take the time to send in that comment form?
It’s not graceful, and you may need to enable pop-ups to make it work for you.

Over the last while, I’ve received a few requests for a discussion forum. Personally, I use Martialtalk quite a bit, and lurk at quite a few others, but I understand that some folks wish for a very focussed experience. I’m not trying to replace the large, general purpose forums. With that in mind, I added a ‘Kempoinfo Forum’ to the site. You can access it via the “Forum” link at the top of every page here.
For now, the forum can be read by anyone, but you must be registered to participate. I’ll keep it that way for now, but as we (the ones who will use it) get it rolling, we may decide to change how things work. As you get there, you will have to click on the upper right hand corner where it says ‘Sign in’, and if you aren’t already registered, you can ‘Apply for Membership’. I’ll be reviewing and approving by hand, so if you register at weird hours, you’ll probably have to wait before I get to approving you.
I’m expecting it to be a cozy place, where we can really get into some good, pointed discussions without much distraction. However, there will be places for ‘other’ topics as we are all members of a community. Welcome aboard, tell me how it works for you, and let’s make it the community we want.
