Interpretation of 2 Kata

This is old footage from a Villari’s Demo, posted by Steve Venturino (AKA Kempoman). Steve’s a great example of how far effort can take you even if you start from a position of disadvantage (cerebral palsy). The video shows someone doing an application demonstration of two kata. The video is a little grainy, but it’s a nice demo. If you are interested in old seminar and demonstration footage, Steve’s got some stuff for sale at pretty reasonable prices.

I was emailing back and forth a bit with Steve and he offered this info:

The Two Kata was preformed by Donna Angelle. She was the chief instructor of the Wellington School back in the mid 80s here in south Florida. Thanks for posting. I like the classics – since many of the people are no longer here with us on this planet – sharing these videos I feel is important.

  2. nice bunkai and good interpretations, and , she free flowed it very nicely.
Good kudos to matt and steve!

Wow!!! Donna was my instructor as a kid!! That was shot at the old John I Leanord High School Gym. That is where our tournements were held. Another instructor named Bob George replaced her in 85-86.That was a blast from the past for me to see her as I rememebered her..Thanks for posting! I’m thinking about getting my kids ready to begin classes! Maybe, I’ll get back into it with them…

Lol…I watched it again..and recognized the man standing on the right side of the screen as “Marc” , an assistant instructor that used to kick my butt.. I have some pictures from a 1985 tournament when I was an 11 year old green belt. I would guess that this video was 83-84 by Marcs rank.
