Ten Tigers Martial Arts in Las Vegas has put quite a number of techniques (including combinations) up on video on their YouTube homepage. I’ll be linking specific videos to their written descriptions in the archive soon. I emailed Sensei Michael Hamm (chief instructor) to ask about using the videos and he was very gracious about it. Additionally, if you are in the area, he will be hosting Professor Kimo Ferreira for a seminar this spring which will certainly be great chance to get in touch with ‘roots’ Kempo. I look forward to the chance to work with him as he works with my teacher. On the video page there’s a ‘teaser’ clip that shows a little sparring – it does my heart good to see them actually hitting each other. I know it’s only a clip, but I thought that was a good sign.
The Torrance California branch of USSD has been nice enough to post their 26 basic kempos to youtube. Please check them out and look for your favorites. The taping is relatively clean and the execution clean as well, but I don’t necessarily agree with the way they don’t manipulate the posture of their uke. However, as you go through, I’m sure the East Coast folks will recognize a few familiar techniques. Thanks for putting yourselves out there USSD Torrance – and those who haven’t put yourselves up on video for all of the internet to see – remember that when commenting. Put up or keep it to yourself.
