Combinations from Dragon-Phoenix Martial Arts

Thanks to my good friend Jesse Dwire over at Dragon-Phoenix Martial Arts we have more videos of combinations. Today’s offering is from the earlier ones on the list, 1,16 and 30. As an added feature, besides the ‘classic’ Shaolin Kempo way, he demonstrates how he does them today at his school. An interesting note is that he doesn’t necessarily change the technique, but rather changes the attack or context to fit the existing movements. (By the way, sorry Sensei Paul, I left it in…)

I’ll link each section of the video to the respective description in the archive. Stay tuned – more to come from later in the list! Update: Sorry mobile folks – the embed is being uncooperative – I’m working on a mobile solution.

Kempo Jutsu Seminar

If you’ve ever wondered what my teacher is like, or if you’ve ever wanted to watch me get beat on for an hour, Sensei Bernard Williams posted a video of a Kempo-Jutsu seminar from a couple years back. Professor Kimo is coming to the mainland again, starting in Vegas in April, and continuing on through Long Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Stay tuned to Kempoinfo.com for more information.

For now, get out your popcorn and enjoy:

Not Kempo-Jutsu, but Kempo Jitsu

I currently focus my efforts on the Kempo Jutsu of Professor Kimo Ferreira. I stumbled across this video and thought that it was interesting how similar in name and in some of the movements the Kempo done by these folks was. All in all a pretty good demo:

I later saw he was a student of the late Jorn Brandt, who trained with Professor Kimo for a while, so I can see where some of the familiar touches might have found their way in. I was glad to have met Mr. Brandt and his family in Las Vegas at the Gathering of Eagles. It is unfortunate that he passed so young.
