The Tracy Kenpo lineage had a splinter Tracy/Connors group, and I was lucky enough to meet a practitioner of this particular flavor of Kenpo years ago at a ‘Gathering of Eagles’ in Las Vegas. I’ve always felt that the Tracy and Parker flavors of Kenpo had their pluses, but somehow the intense taxonomy of techniques left a sterile flavor in my mouth. It reminds me of my work in a behavioral program where traditional learning generalization was expected through learning enough examples was replaced with a more loose process where the learning was varied so you wouldn’t be stumped by a small change in the situation. This video, although well produced, gives a good example of my concerns with the methodology.
