In an oversight, I forgot to do 5 kata on that day in 2003 that I ran through all the forms (at least the videos with me in them) that made it up on this site. Well, a couple years later, my friend Russ moved down south, so in 2005 I made a quick film to help him practice. I did remember 5 kata this time. The hard drive with that video died, but luckily, I found a copy of the DVD I made for him and was able to get the video back off. So, we now have (about ten years late) a video for 5 kata.
Finally: Video for 5 kata

wow!! ok, watching this video on 5 Kata, once, I’d say it looks familar, like what I had. I think I have it written down in my Notebook, I’d have to check. Nice.. thanks. good going.
Happy to oblige. There aren’t that many versions of this out on the web. I’m not sure why. Hopefully it’s close enough to your original that you can get it back. Have you been able to find the other videos?
The other videos????
What other videos???
Well, actually, I think this video, here, of 5 Kata is probably exactly as I learned it…. I think… but not sure…..I’m gonna have to get going back study my Kenpo, next weekend, Patriot Day Weekend, inbetween doing work on my car. After I get my TAxes done, etc, etc, etc…..
Been studying up alot on Judo and Jujitsu..
This looks similar to 5 Kata, however there are additions and deletions of technigques of the original. Curious, does the martial artist performing it, or the one that taught him know the application of the moves. In other words, what are you doing and why are you doing it? This is not something I will tell you, as I am a loyalist and won’t explain a kata’s application without SGM S. George Pesare’s blessing… this is one of the ways he is able to keep the original katas original.
Michael – Thanks for commenting. This is not SGM Pesare’s original unfortunately. It is the version that most of the Villari offshoots do. The person in the video is me. When I learned it, and for a long time after I did not have the applications for most of the moves, and found them myself after doing some research and training with some of the (pre-East Coast) seniors. This particular ‘flavor’ of 5 kata is from the MSDC lineage, but it’s essentially the same in the other Villari offshoots.
