The author indicated that this book was researched, footnoted, and well documented, and it gets good reviews. I haven’t gotten it yet, but intend to as he specifically addresses the ‘Mitose was a ninja’ bunk perpetuated by certain folks who feel that the six weeks they studied with Mitose was enough time to learn both the entire Kosho-ryu system and the ‘Koga Ninjitsu” that Mitose taught and their friends. After I pick up a copy I’ll give it a full review.

looking forward to your review… my personal opinion is that, Mitose may have trained at a temple near Nagasaki, but we will never know for sure because anyone who could verify it was ‘evacuated’ form the countryside to the ‘safety’ of the city (Nagasaki)… and were then killed in the atomic blast.
It’s as likely as any theory, and includes an atomic explosion, so it is even cooler 🙂

I have a friend who actually went to the temple that Mitose supposedly trained at. The records are surprisingly complete, but Mitose doesn’t appear in them. See the article, in the form of a deposition given to Bullshido’s Sam Browning.
It’s been a while, but I finally ordered it from Amazon. Review coming soon!
