John Bishop has posted five (yep, five) Six clips on Youtube with excerpts from interviews he has done with Sijo Adriano Emperado of Kajukenbo. As Shaolin Kempo (as far as I know) and Karazenpo Goshinjutsu branch off the Kajukenbo tree, Sijo Emperado’s words are very relevant to our history as well. I’m embedding them here for convenience, but you can go to John Bishop’s Youtube page to see more Kajukenbo video goodness. Videos after the jump. In this first clip, he talks about the early days and the Palamas Settlement:
In the second, he discusses his promotion to Professor, 10th degree.
In the Third, he talks about early students, including John Leoning, who was the instructor to Sijo Victor ‘Sonny’ Gascon, founder of Karazenpo Goshinjutsu:
In the fourth, he speaks of the founding of Kajukenbo:
And in the fifth, he talks of the style of training he endorsed in the early days.
In the sixth, he talks about the Kajukenbo procedure for changing instructors. Caution – there’s a bit of ‘strong language’ (not suitable for TV).
Many, many thanks to John Bishop for providing these treasures.
