I saw this on the kung fu magazine forum, posted by someone called SK Girl:
Independent Shaolin kempo Organization
Independent Shaolin kempo Organization
Hey everyone! I was looking on the net for shaolin kempo teachers in California and I thought why don’t all the Villari-Ussd breakoff schools get together once or twice a year and train, test, seminars, share marketing ideas. We could make it no monthly due fee’s or black belt manuals to buy, just pay for your test’s and seminars, training. Once you start nickel and dimeing people to death the greed just gets worse and your instructor’s leave and start there own organization. This what I believe happened to Ussd and Villari’s and countless other karate organizations. No head of the organization just shaolin kempo teachers getting together(no dictator telling us what to do)In the next year or so I will be opening my own Dojo even though I will be teaching Ed Parker’s kenpo I would like to add a Shaolin Kempo classes as well. What do you guys think?
My questions are: Can it be done? Not just in California, but nationwide? Worldwide?Should it be done?Somewhere between the Kajukenbo Hui and group meetings for agoraphobics.
I’d be interested in that, even if for no other reason than to compare my level of ability with others form other schools. And I’m sure I’d get a lot more out of it than that!
I’d be interested too, and hope that sometime something like this takes shape. We talk about it now and the, but things never seem to form up at more than a pretty small / local level. Maybe if folks start attending each other’s events, it will coalesce on its own.
Pingback: More regarding an independent Kempo organization.
I think it would be a great idea. I am a Villari black belt. But there is no longer a Villari’s Studio of Self Defense in Utah. I have been training on my own for the last 25 years. There are USSD dojos and a Z Ultimate dojo but I really don’t care for them because of the lawsuit between them.
