Combinations 50 and 56

Thanks to shaolinwarriormark for pointing me at them. Here’s Kevin Carmichael, 5th Dan, instructor at the Braintree, MA Masters Self Defense Centers doing some combinations. I edited the pages with these combinations to link them to the Youtube Videos.  It sure brought back memories to go to their site, but it’s really wierd…I went to their black belt page, and I seem to have accidentially fallen of the list. Maybe they could use this old one to find some of the missing names…

    Ahh…yeah….well….Uhhh.
There is another list at http://www.freewebs.com/karateinfocenter/kempokarate.htm. Or search andrew cutter karate its from 1997-2004 or so I guess and it has alot of us that are”missing”.

Yeah, I posted it and then thought I was being petty. I got a call from Kenpojoe Rebelo tonight – he saw the video for combination 50 and was surprised to see the ‘obscure elbow’. In his recollection that move wasn’t there in the ’70’s so we had a nice chat about the context. I think it might have been there because it seems about combination 40-50 that they started pillaging the Ed Parker purple belt tapes for material. (leaping crane / combination 40). Joe also said that this year will be a busy one for the Karazenpo folk, so stay tuned for development in that area.

When I first learned it, it was called “rising elbow”

  4. jesse dwire says:

Who would be part of the Karazenpo Folk? Did he mention that?

  5. jesse dwire says:

And dont think it was petty putting up the old site.. it was nice seeing my name on there again. hahaaha.

  6. matt says:

re: rising elbow – that’s how I described it to him, and I mentioned that it couldn’t be a ‘new’ development, at least as old as 2003…

He didn’t get into too much detail, but said videos, seminars, etc.

  7. Bill Logan says:

Yeah Tammy and mine too.Hahaha… I would like to know more about whats happening with Karazenpo to. We have added training in Kajukenbo now but also want to see more about and possibly train some Karazenpo too.

Joe promised to send me info as events started to happen this year. I’ll post things as soon as I get then.

  9. well gentlemen, basically i searched youtube for the words,” kempo dm ” and “kempo combination” and this these pulled up.
Now i have been thinking about the brassard tapes, as he has all the combinations /dm;s from 1 thru 90, plus the forms up to fourth degree.

  10. jesse dwire says:

I understand he has the DM’s thru 90 but are they the original DM’s or the creation of Master Brassard? I have talked to people who have up to 90 in what they thought were the original ones but none of theirs from 40-60 were the same as mine. Masters Centers says they have taught Master Thomas all 108 combos. But who’s combos are they? I also would like to know if the Karazenpo material will be based on Sijo Gascon’s material or GM Pesare’s material?

  11. yeah, i can ask master brassard for his intel and see what he says.
