Two Man Set North Side

North Side

Begin facing 12 o’clock with hands at your sides with palms touching your legs.  Your partner is standing to your right.  Your feet are together.  Circle both arms back and over with palms open and facing 12 o’clock.  As arms circle over respective shoulders, bring them toward your center/chest palms down and fingers pointing toward each other.  Press palms down in front of your belt/groin.  Your feet are still together.

Turn your head to your right (3 o’clock) as you set up your left hand under your right biceps and your right fist up by your left ear.  Your left hand is open with the palm facing your right (3 o’clock) and your right hand is in a fist ready to strike a backfist to your right.

Step your right foot out to a horse stance facing 12 o’clock as you deliver a right backfist strike to your right side (3 o’clock).  Use the push-pull action by retracting your left hand to a fist up at your left rib motion.\

Half-moon your left foot toward 3 o’clock and pivot on your right foot 180 degrees to face 6 o’clock and deliver a right knife hand block at 6 o’clock followed immediately with a right shuto strike to the neck at 6 o’clock.  (Note: During this move, your left foot comes to your right in half-moon fashion and goes toward 3 o’clock.  You pivot on the right foot as you deliver the right knife hand block.  The entire half-moon and block occur in one flowing move.)

Half-moon your left foot again toward 6 o’clock as you pivot left to right 90 degrees on your right foot to face 9 o’clock and deliver a right horizontal backhand block from left to right at 9 o’clock and follow immediately with a right front two-knuckle punch to the face at 9 o’clock.

Step back into a horse stance facing 6 o’clock and lean your upper body back toward 3 o’clock as you deliver a right downward block (#7 block) to your right side (9 o’clock).  Cross your left foot behind your right moving toward 9 o’clock and as you step your right foot toward 9 o’clock after the left cross behind step, deliver a right downward backfist at 9 o’clock.  Immediately, lean upper body back toward 3 o’clock and deliver another right downward block (#7 block) toward 9 o’clock.

Shuffle pivot left to right (move your right foot back to your left and pivot on the right foot as you move the left foot toward 7 o’clock) into a horse stance facing 10 o’clock and deliver a left back two-knuckle punch to the solar plexus at 10 o’clock.

Immediately, deliver a right overhead block (# 5 block) followed by a right hammer strike to the ribs and a right knife hand block from left to right and end with a left leopard’s paw strike to the throat (all toward 10 o’clock).

Leap and spin 90 degrees from right to left to land in a horse stance facing 7 o’clock.  As you land, simultaneously deliver a right downward elbow block (it is the same as a downward strike, but you are blocking an attempted horizontal elbow to your ribs).  Half moon left foot toward 9 o’clock and deliver a right downward backfist strike to 9 o’clock.  Half moon left foot back toward 3 o’clock and deliver a right forearm block from right to left (#3 block) toward 9 o’clock.  Step right foot to left foot to face 6 o’clock as you circle your right arm clockwise in front of you and reach toward 3 o’clock (palm open and up and fingers pointing toward 3 o’clock) as a set-up.  Step right foot out toward 9 o’clock to a horse stance facing 6 o’clock as you deliver a right horizontal elbow strike toward 9 o’clock (right hand in a fist and palm down).  As the elbow strike is delivered, lean toward the target at 9 o’clock.

Draw right foot back toward you into a right cat stance facing 9 o’clock and deliver a left horizontal pushing palm block from left to right.  Step your right foot toward 9 o’clock into a right front stance and deliver a right palm heel strike to the ribs at 9 o’clock.  Lean upper body back toward 3 o’clock and deliver a right downward block (#7 block) toward 9 o’clock.

Pivot upper body toward 5 o’clock and deliver a right rising heel kick toward 9 o’clock and pivot right to left to place foot down at 5 o’clock.  As you are pivoting on your left foot to place your right foot back down, circle your arms clockwise at your chest (left close to your right further out in front) and end with your left hand down in front of your left side toward 11 o’clock in a left reverse hammer strike position (fist with palm toward your left) and your right hand up over your right shoulder in a right backfist strike toward 5 o’clock (fist with palm facing you).  Note: Both elbows are bent slightly and you hold this position briefly.  This is called a Dragon.

Pivot your upper body to face 12 o’clock as you circle hands in front of your chest crossing at the forearms (left clockwise and right counter-clockwise with the palms open and facing the opposite way).  The hands circle all the way down and back in front of your chest with palms down and fingers pointed toward each other (as in opening salutation).  As your hands come in font of your face, step your right foot up to and beside your left foot facing 12 o’clock (as in starting position).

Thank you for the write-up. I have been watching videos published by America Kempo in Huntington NY – my new school. I was not sure what the move is and now i can put words to the movements.

I have referenced your site on many occasions on my path from White belt to Black and with help from your site as a reference, you helped me in my journey.

Mike – I am sorry to have taken so long to respond. Congratulations on your achievement of black belt – it makes me so happy hearing of your success. I am so happy to have helped, in whatever small way in your journey.
