Shushi No Kon Sho

Shushi no kon sho

Beginning stance, heels together, feet out at an angle.

Bo is held in right hand, palm back, index finger pointing down.

Circle bo across body bringing bo clockwise,  grasp bo with left hand overhead, continue circle until right hand is low again, palm forward.

Shift weight to left leg, rotate right inward at the hip.

Shift back to facing front, step back with left foot to a front stance with a simultaneous downward strike to the front.

Bring left foot up next to right with a rear then front two handed thrust with the bo.

Step out right to the side into a side leaning horse stance, slide right hand to top of bo, and do a low sweeping strike forward on your left side.

Pull the bo back, slide right hand to the 1/3 position, and shift into a left front stance facing left with a rising strike to the groin.

Turn 180 degrees with a clearing motion holding the bo vertical, and circle to a downward strike to the right shifting to a right front stance facing right.

Curl the bo clockwise in a clearing motion driven by the right hand (in a similar motion to a #1 Block).

Draw the right foot back to meet the left, and then step forward into a back stance facing the front. Bo is in an overhead chambered position, right hand high, left hand at chin level.

Rapidly step forward right then left  bringing the feet together with a downward strike when the left foot meets the right.

Step back left to a front stance, curl the bo clockwise in a clearing motion driven by the right hand (in a similar motion to a #1 Block).

Step forward left so left foot meets right and chamber the bo on the right side, left hand high palm forward, right hand low.

Repeat the last section:

Rapidly step forward right then left  bringing the feet together with a downward strike when the left foot meets the right.

Step back left to a front stance, curl the bo clockwise in a clearing motion driven by the right hand (in a similar motion to a #1 Block).

Step forward left so left foot meets right and chamber the bo on the right side, left hand high palm forward, right hand low.

Stomp forward right into a right forward stance facing front with a downward strike and kiai.

Curl the bo clockwise in a clearing motion driven by the right hand (in a similar motion to a #1 Block).

Slide the right hand up to the top of the bo, look left, bring the left foot up even with the right in a horse stance facing front, and do a low sweeping strike forward on your left side.

Draw the bo back and strike with a poking motion to the instep of your opponent.

Step in right (to the left side where you poked) with a rising groin strike, downward strike, upward strike, downward strike, and circle again for a second downward strike.

Curl the bo clockwise in a clearing motion driven by the right hand (in a similar motion to a #1 Block).

Look over your left shoulder, slide right hand to top of bo, and step right foot  even with the left in a horse stance facing rear, and do a low sweeping strike forward on your left side.

Draw the bo back and strike with a poking motion to the instep of your opponent.

Step in right (to the left side where you poked) with a rising groin strike, downward strike, upward strike, downward strike, and circle again for a second downward strike.

Curl the bo clockwise in a clearing motion driven by the right hand (in a similar motion to a #1 Block).

Slide the right hand up to the top of the bo, look left, bring the left foot up even with the right in a horse stance facing left, and do a low sweeping strike forward on your left side.

Draw the bo back and strike with a poking motion to the instep of your opponent.

Step in right (to the left side where you poked) with a rising groin strike and a downward strike.

Bring the left hand to the bottom of the staff, and use it to drive a thrusting / poking strike to the front, shifting your left foot up to meet your right as you execute the strike.

Recoil the strike as you draw your left foot back to a front stance.

Step back right to a twist stance, with a scooping motion with the bo clockwise as if flicking sand into the opponent’s eyes.

Step to rear with left foot, swinging the bo staff horizontally to left.

Shift stance to the right leg to a forward stance facing the front,  with a clearing motion holding the bo vertical, and circle to a downward strike.

Bring the left hand to the bottom of the staff, and use it to drive a thrusting / poking strike to the front, shifting your left foot up to meet your right as you execute the strike.

Recoil the strike as you draw your left foot back to a front stance.

Draw the right foot back so so right foot meets left and chamber the bo on the right side, left hand high palm forward, right hand low.

Step back left to a running man stance, shift the bo so it is held in the right hand, thumb up, touching the base of the bo to the floor.

Step back right to original stance, heels together, feet at an angle.

Drop the tip of the bo so it is held in right hand, palm back, index finger pointing down.

Circle bo across body bringing bo clockwise,  grasp bo with left hand overhead, continue circle until right hand is low again, palm forward.

Left hand comes to side, bow.
